I was slumping hard this whole year. Audiobooks were my saving grace because my eyes were not on books (they were on movies, but that’s a whole other conversation). Even that wasn’t cutting it anymore for me though. However the last six weeks I have been ON A ROLL!!! In an effort to be my kind and generous self, I decided to share some of the books I’ve read over the last month in case you too have been hit with the non-reader bug. Save your bookworm heart with these summer romances!
I’ve been planning to read a bit more seasonally moving forward (if I can manage it!) So, I put together a little spooky TBR list. These books are perfect for October, but you could also pick a few books to scatter throughout your autumn reads.
I bought and read Jennifer E. Smith’s The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight ten years ago when I was in high school. A few weeks ago, I saw a trailer on TikTok for Netflix’s newest movie Love at First Sight and found out that it was an adaptation of the book that’s spent a decade on my shelf! Of course I decided I had to reread it all these years later and then watch the film. This is how that experience went.
There was a time in my life when almost all I watched was reality television. TLC and E! were some of my best friends😂. However, I haven’t felt drawn to watch reality tv for a long time (except for that one binge-watch of The Kardashians I did when I had covid last year lol). What I have been doing recently is reading books that center around dating shows! For this post I’ve curated a list books to read if you like reality tv dating shows like The Bachelor. Also feel free to drop reality show recs if you have any (so far everyone’s been telling me to watch Love Island)🙃.
As you may or may not know, I work in a school and after a wonderful summer, it’s time to go back 😭 In the spirit of back to school though, I thought I’d share some books set in school that are worth a read. Whether you’re going back to school yourself or have left school in the rearview mirror, hopefully you’ll fall in love with one of these YA or Adult novels.
Nobody wants to fall into a reading slump. These are some tried and true ways to get you out of the spin cycle of reading hell and on your way to hanging up your reading goal awards. (Trust me- I’m a mood reader who gets into reading slumps way more frequently than I would like and these have all helped me.)
I just realized I never shared new releases for the end of the year! My 23 Most Anticipated Reads of 2023 post stopped at August, but you can still check it out for some books you may have missed this year! This list is much shorter with only 6 novels, but they include contemporary romances, a fantasy romance, and thrillers.

It’s been awhile…
I’m back though and I just finished reading Happy Place by Emily Henry and I have to be honest; it was not my happy place.
Most of the books on this list are such well-known hits it’s almost ridiculous for me to recommend them to you now. However, I’d like to provide at least some romances for you to read if you’re feeling particularly festive this Valentine’s Day! And it occurred to me while compiling this list that while romance is my favorite genre, I have read a lot more duds than I would like over the last few years. Maybe a new goal for me this year should be to read more romances that I love…
